Pokémon TCG: Munikis Zero — Everything We Know About the Newest Japanese Set

A Set Inspired by Pokémon Legends: Z-A

The Pokémon Trading Card Game is entering an exciting new era with Munikis Zero, a brand-new booster set officially releasing in Japan on January 23, 2026. Revealed during Japan’s annual December Pokémon livestream, Munikis Zero has already generated major hype thanks to its return of Mega Evolutions and its deep connection to the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

Where Pokémon Legends: Z-A Meets the TCG

Munikis Zero is the first Pokémon TCG booster set fully based on Pokémon Legends: Z-A. While previous releases included select Pokémon and characters tied to the game, Munikis Zero is the first expansion built entirely around its world, themes, and mechanics.

This direct connection brings a darker, more futuristic tone to the artwork and card design, aligning closely with the direction of Pokémon Legends: Z-A and setting the stage for a new generation of competitive play.

Mega Zygarde ex Takes Center Stage

At the heart of Munikis Zero is Mega Zygarde ex, appearing as a Mega Evolution Pokémon ex card. This marks a significant moment for the TCG, as Mega Evolutions return in a major way, reimagined through modern ex mechanics.

Mega Zygarde ex isn’t alone. Several other fan-favourite Mega Evolutions have already been revealed, each expected to bring unique strategies and high-impact gameplay.

Featured Cards Revealed So Far

While the full card list has yet to be unveiled, the following Mega Evolution Pokémon ex cards have been officially revealed:

  • Mega Zygarde ex – The flagship card of the set

  • Mega Skarmory ex – A defensive powerhouse with modern ex synergy

  • Mega Gallade ex – A fast, aggressive Mega Evolution option

More Pokémon and characters from Pokémon Legends: Z-A are expected to be revealed closer to release.
